Bergerac

Bergerac is a wine region in southwest France, just east of Bordeaux, known for producing wines that closely resemble its more famous neighbor but often offer better value. The region shares many of the same grape varieties—Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc for reds; Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscadelle for whites—and produces a wide range of styles, from dry reds and whites to sweet dessert wines. Bergerac is home to several appellations, including Monbazillac, known for luscious botrytized sweet wines, and Pécharmant, which produces structured, age-worthy reds. With its rolling hills, river valleys, and a growing focus on quality and terroir, Bergerac is an excellent source of classic French wines with character and affordability.
