Bordeaux

Bordeaux is a world-renowned wine region in southwestern France, centered around the Gironde estuary and divided by the Garonne and Dordogne rivers into the Left Bank, Right Bank, and Entre-Deux-Mers. It is best known for its red blends, primarily made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with supporting roles from Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec. The region also produces prestigious dry whites from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, as well as the legendary sweet wines of Sauternes and Barsac. Esteemed producers include Château Margaux, Château Latour, Château Cheval Blanc, and Château d’Yquem, with Bordeaux’s classification systems (such as the 1855 Classification and Saint-Émilion’s Grand Cru tiers) adding both structure and prestige to its global reputation. Notably, Bordeaux has a strong culture of en primeur (futures) sales and is a cornerstone of the global fine wine market.
