Müller-Thurgau is an early-ripening white grape created in Germany in 1882 by Hermann Müller, now understood to be a crossing of Riesling and Madeleine Royale. It typically produces light, soft, aromatic wines with apple, pear, peach, floral, and subtle muscat-like notes, but generally has lower acidity and less aging potential than Riesling.
