Pfalz is a major wine region in western Germany, extending along the Haardt Mountains on the edge of the Rhine Plain. Sheltered from rain and cold by the mountains, it has one of Germany’s warmer, drier wine climates. Riesling is the leading variety, often producing fuller and more generous wines than those of the Mosel and other northerly growing areas.
