The Zonda is a hot, extremely dry, downslope wind that develops as Pacific air crosses the Andes and descends into western Argentina, especially Mendoza and San Juan. It can reduce humidity and fungal pressure in vineyards, but its heat, dust, and powerful gusts may dehydrate vines, damage shoots and flowers, and complicate vineyard work.
