The Russian River Valley
Russian River Valley is one of Sonoma County’s most important wine regions, shaped by cool Pacific influence, morning fog, and a long growing season. These conditions make it especially well suited to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, producing wines known for bright acidity, freshness, and layered fruit. The region’s climate can vary significantly from one vineyard to another, creating a wide range of styles within a relatively compact area. While Pinot Noir and Chardonnay define much of its reputation, Russian River Valley also produces excellent Zinfandel, Syrah, and other varieties in its warmer sites.
